Deep winter and its minus 8C  and Drosera filiformis - The Threadleaf Sundew, remain tightly curled up in its familiar Winter Resting Bud  form. 

 Drosera binita on the other hand, appears to think Spring is already here and one or two brave new leaves can be seen beginning to unfurl.

 Pinguicula moranensis "Orchidioides" just starting to go dormant and forming this tight, perfect rosette.

 Its Pygmy gemmae time and these gemmae have already started to 'sprout' sending out their first bright red roots.

Amazing CP micrographs using Optical Projection Tomography!!

Now here's something interesting and one for the Scientists out there! Triffid Nurseries has recently been used by the John Innes Research Centre to obtain these amazing shots of CP's using a technique called Optical Projection Tomography. This picture shows the amazing external structure of an un-opened trap of the Albany Pitcher plant Cephalotus follicularis. To see more  stunning OPT images click here.
